Brief  Workshop Description:

Would you like to learn how to build or operate a client-centered and service-based business? Would you like to gain knowledge about the importance of challenging social injustices? Want to get better compensation for helping people and addressing social problems at both the micro and mezzo level? If you answered yes to either one of the aforementioned questions, this workshop was designed specifically for you.

The core value of social work is rooted in helping people overcome life’s hurdles that threatens their humanity. Social workers are found in schools and colleges, hospitals, veteran centers, mental health facilities, local and federal government and even in corporate America. Furthermore, social workers have developed excellent reputations for challenging social injustices by advocating on behalf of vulnerable and oppressed people who live in poverty. However, many social workers struggle with building and operating client-centered and service-based businesses that earns income that is comparable to other helping professions such as registered nurses, occupational therapists, psychologists, psychiatrists, and teachers. This in return causes a percentage of social workers to occassionally question their value to society from a compensation perspective.

In this 1-day business development workshop, you will acquire the knowledge and tools needed to build and operate a client-centered business that combats oppression, poverty and other forms of social injustices. Through thought-provoking dialogue and interactive exercises, you will walk away with a better understanding of how to serve clients’ needs above personal interest, get better compensation through multiple service delivery methods, and more importantly learn how to successfully uphold the social work core values as a social worker in business.

At the end of the conference, participants will be able to:
